Overview

Goals are specific, measurable objectives that help you track progress toward your strategic priorities. They provide a way to define success and measure how well your roadmap execution aligns with strategy.

Creating Goals

Open Strategy Settings

Navigate to the Strategy section in your workspace.

Select a Priority

Goals are created under a strategic priority.

Add Goal

Click + Add Goal within the priority.

Configure

Enter name, description, and set a color.

Write goal names that are specific and measurable: “Increase retention by 15%” rather than “Improve retention”.

Linking Items to Goals

Connect roadmap items to show what work contributes to each goal:

  1. Open an item’s detail panel
  2. Click the Goal dropdown
  3. Select a goal

Bulk Linking

  1. Select multiple items
  2. Click Edit Selected
  3. Set the goal for all selected items

Viewing Goals

Strategy View

The Strategy View provides a dedicated interface for managing goals:

  • View all priorities and their goals
  • See linked items for each goal
  • Track progress at a glance

Timeline Grouping

Group the Timeline View by Goal:
  1. Click the Group by selector
  2. Choose Goal
  3. Items appear in goal-based swimlanes

Tracking Progress

Monitor goal progress through:

Item Completion

  • View how many linked items are completed
  • See percentage of work done

Timeline Coverage

  • Visualize when goal-related work is scheduled
  • Identify gaps or overloaded periods

Managing Goals

Editing

  1. Open Strategy settings
  2. Click on a goal
  3. Update properties
  4. Save changes

Moving Between Priorities

  1. Open the goal
  2. Change the Strategic Priority dropdown
  3. Goal moves to the new priority

Archiving

When a goal is complete or no longer relevant:
  1. Open the goal
  2. Click Archive
  3. Goal is hidden but preserved for reference

Best Practices

Goals should be measurable. Include metrics, percentages, or concrete outcomes.
Associate goals with a time period (Q1, H2 2024, etc.) for clear accountability.
Review goal progress in planning sessions and adjust roadmap as needed.
