Overview

Wey is built around a few key concepts that work together to help you plan and communicate your product strategy.
Core Concepts Overview

Item Types

Items are the building blocks of your roadmap. Wey supports a hierarchical structure of item types:
Item TypePurposeExample
InitiativeLarge strategic efforts spanning multiple quarters”Mobile App Launch”
EpicMajor features or deliverables within an initiative”User Authentication”
StoryUser-facing functionality”As a user, I can reset my password”
TaskSpecific work items”Implement password reset API”
BugIssues to be fixed”Login button unresponsive on iOS”
Items can have parent-child relationships. For example, an Epic can contain multiple Stories, and each Story can have Tasks.

Organizational Structure

Products & Product Areas

Organize your roadmap by product and product area:
  • Products: Top-level grouping (e.g., “Web App”, “Mobile App”, “API”)
  • Product Areas: Sub-divisions within a product (e.g., “Authentication”, “Dashboard”, “Reporting”)

Strategic Priorities

Strategic priorities represent your organization’s key focus areas. Items can be linked to priorities to show how work aligns with strategy.

Goals

Goals are specific, measurable objectives that sit under strategic priorities. They help track progress toward your priorities.

Views

Wey offers multiple ways to visualize your data:
A Gantt-style view showing items on a timeline. Perfect for planning sprints, quarters, or long-term roadmaps. Items can be grouped by product area, priority, or goal.
A structured list view with expandable hierarchy. Great for detailed review of all items and their relationships.
A column-based view for workflow management. Useful for tracking item status and moving work through stages.
A flow diagram showing parent-child relationships between items. Ideal for understanding dependencies and structure.

Workspaces

Workspaces are isolated environments for your roadmaps. Each workspace has its own:
  • Items and hierarchy
  • Products and product areas
  • Strategic priorities and goals
  • Team members and permissions
You can create multiple workspaces for different products, teams, or clients.
